The Lesson of Unity

In a small village by a green forest, there was a group of friends named An, Binh, Cuong, and Dung. They always played together every afternoon after school. One day, their teacher organized a wooden bridge-building contest for the whole class. Each group of students had to work together to build a bridge across a small stream in the village.

An, Binh, Cuong, and Dung’s group decided to join the contest. They started by collecting wood and necessary materials. However, after a few days of work, they realized that building a bridge was harder than they thought. Binh and Dung often argued about how to arrange the wooden planks, while An and Cuong were busy with other tasks and did not help the group.

One afternoon, the teacher came to visit and saw An’s group arguing. He gently asked, “Do you know why your work is not progressing well?” The group was silent, not knowing how to answer.

The teacher smiled and told them a story about unity: “Once upon a time, there was a farmer who had three sons who often quarreled. One day, the farmer gave each of them a bundle of sticks and told them to break it. The sons tried one by one but could not break the bundle. Then, the farmer divided the bundle into individual sticks and easily broke each one. He said, ‘If you are united, you will be strong like this bundle of sticks. If you are divided, you will be weak and easily defeated.'”

After hearing the story, An, Binh, Cuong, and Dung realized that they needed to unite and cooperate with each other. They began to listen to each other’s opinions, divide the work reasonably, and support each other. An and Cuong helped Binh and Dung arrange the wood, while Binh and Dung, together with An and Cuong, completed the small details.

Finally, thanks to unity and cooperation, An’s group finished the bridge ahead of schedule. The bridge was not only sturdy but also very beautiful. The teacher praised them and said, “You have learned the lesson of unity. When you work together, nothing is impossible.”

From then on, An’s group not only won the contest but also became close friends, always helping and supporting each other in every task. They understood that unity is the greatest strength to overcome any challenge.

I hope this story will help the students understand the value of unity and learn how to cooperate and support each other in their studies and life
